Which is the right probes family to choose?

The world of probes is wide and articulated and, for the convenience of classification, is divided into “families” according to the characteristics.

One of your #frequentlyaskedquestions is how to figure out which family to target for your needs.

First, you need to ask yourself in which application the probe you are looking for will be used: do you have a test system? an interface system? a device that absorbs high current? or do you need to detect the presence of a component?

For each of these applications, there is a suitable family (and then a solution):

  • for example, one of the typical uses of the Switch probes family is to detect the presence of a component;
  • if you have a needle bed test system and you have to perform an In-Circuit or Functional Test you will opt for the ICT/FCT family;
  • if you need to manage a signal or transmit power in a compact way, you will need to use the Short Travel probes;
  • you have to test a device in power? The answer is the High Current probes.
